Sweets & Meats BBQ is a woman owned & operated business with very humble beginnings. The business launched in 2014, in the heart of Mt. Washington where Kristen Bailey is a 40-year resident. Co-Founders Kristen Bailey and Anton Gaffney were intentional about starting the business in their own neighborhood, setting up a tent in the parking lot of the Mt. Washington Creamy Whip on weekends, before landing a permanent home at the Patriot Center of Cincinnati. Upon graduating from the MORTAR Entrepreneurship Academy in December 2015, Kristen Bailey successfully funded a Kiva Loan for the down payment on a custom built SDG BBQ food trailer and unveiled it March 12, 2016. She was still working full-time in the corporate world and working on the business during nights and weekends. Anton continued to lead the team with a staff comprised of mainly volunteer friends and family, along with culinary interns from Cincinnati Job Corps.
Sweets & Meats BBQ continued to grow and opened a brick and mortar restaurant in Mt. Washington at the former Little Caesar's Pizza on July 12, 2017. In 2018, Bailey left her career in banking to further support Anton and their business, transitioning to working solely on the business and had an explosive year, with recognition as the U.S. Small Business Administration Ohio Business Person of the Year, SCORE Cincinnati Client of the Year, SBDC Ohio Business of the Year and Member of the Cincinnati Business Courier Forty Under 40 Class. In February 2019, a second food truck was purchased, expanding their reach for events on Fountain Square, corporate catering and at private homes. Sweets & Meats BBQ has quickly grown from a start up to a brick and mortar BBQ restaurant, operating two food trucks seasonally, and is a well respected BBQ caterer in the Greater Cincinnati area.
In 2022, Sweets & Meats BBQ will be celebrating eight years in business. Our award winning smoked meats, homemade sides and desserts are made fresh daily, using family recipes. Whether you stop in for an individual meal or enough to feed the family, we would love to help. Our experienced staff can also handle small to large gatherings including but not limited to weddings, corporate events, graduation parties, funerals, family reunions, and other social events.
